There’s nothing like the onset of Spring to bring about the mega spruce! With the lighter, brighter days inspiring many of us to fling open the windows, refresh, & revitalise our homes, Heather & I hope that we’ve given you a variety of ideas for sprucing through the months so far, both in your daily routines & your homes…our project, #TheEverydaySpruce has certainly been keeping me more focussed & made me look at things a little differently, but sometimes, you just need to maintain…
Cue the 10 minute tidy – a concept recently introduced to me by a friend of mine – all you need is a timer, a basket (any bag or box works too), and a black sack…
You go into the room you want to get sorted, close the door, set your timer or alarm, and off you go. Anything that doesn’t belong in that room goes in the basket (to be put in their homes at the end), and non-required items (or rubbish) goes in the black sack.
The idea is that you don’t leave that room until the timer is done. This focusses you on one space and one task. I’ve found this has worked brilliantly for me, and made staying on top of the everyday just that bit easier. I hadn’t noticed before how much time I spent taking things to other rooms & going up & down the stairs! and also, often, what seems like a big ol’ mess is actually just surface – when you set a timer, it’s much easier to get more done than you think & make a real difference.
On your marks, get set…GO!
See, easier than you thought, huh? And, after all that sprucing, you deserve a little treat don’t you think? This week, we’re really excited to be teaming up with LOAF.com to bring you our “LOAFing spring” giveaway…
To celebrate Spring & the launch of the new LOAF collection, Heather & I have each chosen an item that we felt would spruce up our homes, and perhaps, yours too…I love how quickly and easily you can give a room a refresh with a dash of colour. With muted pastels being my favourite, and hot for Spring 2015, I couldn’t resist the beautifully soft, and suitably scushy Scrunch linen cushion for the daybed in my studio…
Heather has opted to take a look at the things she uses daily, those work-horse items that deserve a little more love and attention, and that, when chosen with care, can bring a touch of unexpected joy to our everyday. She’s giving her mornings a fresh start (a girl after my own heart!) with the Wobbler Ceramics range…
