So here it is…my round up of the first ever Blogtacular event & my first bloggers conference. Honestly, I didn’t really know what to expect, having never been to anything like this before, but Kat Goldin & Kat Molesworth didn’t disappoint in bringing their vision & dream together into an all singing, all dancing spectacular shindig…
The speakers, were bright, warm, real & engaging; Joy’s keynote really kicked things off in style with the inspiring tale of her journey, mistakes, choices & decisions; practical sessions were creative & fun; bloggers big & small, new & old, were friendly, endlessly enthusiastic & full of happy; and there was a real buzz of shared ideas, chatter & excitement. I’d expected to feel completely overawed and out of my depth, but instead, I felt inspired & motivated. There were many awesome quotes that had us all nodding, scribbling or snapping ~ the overriding message being to work out what you want & go for it, to believe in yourself, follow your own path, and to value what you do, but this one from Natalie Lue has really stuck with me:
” blogging and sharing your creativity challenges you to become the person you are meant to be. your blog and what you create is an expression of who you are, your talent, and who you’re evolving into. your blog tells the world ‘I was here’ “
Anne Ditmeyer’s talk was really great, and Xanthe Berkleey’s photowalk just filled me up with happy.
I’d have to say though, that it was the kindred folk that made it such a fantastic & special event…I loved getting to meet up & natter with gorgeous Laura from Circle of Pine Trees at last (*squidge*) and not only did I finally pluck up the courage to actually talk to a certain blog/crochet crush of mine, but actually sat at dinner with Yvonne (swoon!!) who was just as loverly as I could have hoped. Allison Sadler was lush, and I so enjoyed chatting with Hannah and Davina (Seeds & Stitches).
Thank you to Harriet, Rebeca and especially Judith for your wonderful company, to The Hambledon girls for being so sweet & selling the prettiest jam, and to Emily & Geraldine for keeping me fed & in good company both nights! I wish I’d had more time to chat with Heather, Katy & the Kats and so many more to list…thank goodness for social media! Just can’t wait for next year!
