Smitten \\ The Hambledon…

Abode - Everyday - Folk - Wanderlust

the hambledon winchester

I’ve been pretty smitten with The Hambledon ever since I came across them earlier this year, & then even more so after meeting Hambledon girls Lindsey & Rebecca at Blogtacular this past Spring…

Last week, my friend Caroline and I finally visited Winchester after talking about doing a photowalk there for so so long…and it was bucketing it down with the most torrential rain…ick!

However, it did mean that it was the perfect excuse to take shelter between soggy dashes in some of the wonderful independent stores that call Winchester home, enjoy a spot of lunch sans kiddos and have a good old catch up, before ending our day with a wander around Winchester’s breathtaking Cathedral…

Places of note were The Consortium, Jewry Street (where I drooled over vintage, retro & industrial goodies, colourful blankets, prints & baskets, and found a fabulous rug that couldn’t be left behind(!)); Mint Tea Boutique (housed within The Consortium), which had a lovely selection of homewares & gifts (if you’re near Winchester, they are holding an open night on 20th Nov. 6.30-10pm where you can sup mulled wine while you browse & do some very relaxed Christmas prep!); And Ocean Drive Living, Parchment Street, which is a scandi/danish design lovers haven…

But, of course, my absolute favourite was The Hambledon. I’m so chuffed to have finally visited in person, and it totally lived up to everything I’d hoped for from the website in terms of styling, atmosphere and the most incredible selection of delightful, playful, & unique products. I highly recommend a visit sometime soon (just be prepared to be tempted by…well, everything actually!)

PS I hope my little video captures the atmosphere of The Hambledon as it’s truly a lovely place to be & to be inspired by…I’m very new to filming so I know it’s a bit clunky, but I kind of like that (pro’s, just look away!). I’m also experimenting with the best way to share video here, so you may have to allow it to do it’s buffering thang, but do let me know if you have any major problems viewing it x

Wow, have just looked at the Hambledon website, swoon! Just the pictures of the shop, the shelves all lovingly filled with goodies is enough to make me think a trip to Winchester for some christmas *cough* me *cough* shopping is definitely on the agenda in the near future.

I love the Hambledon – sadly it is very far from me and I’ve only visited twice, but I would say it is one of my all time favourite shops. It manages to combine all things I love under one roof. The last time I visited my heart skipped a beat as I entered. This little film created exactly the same feel of excitement…. oh a browse around the Hambledon without leaving my sofa. perfect. Thank you.

ps. Loved your home on Design Sponge. Gorgeous.
