Ailie was one of my very first stockists when she ran her own first venture, Bramble & Bracken. Building on her success (whilst doing her A-Levels no less!), Ailie joined forces with Laura to combine their exceptional fashion & lifestyle curation skills & open the doors of HERO in Autumn 2014.

With the store now in full flow, both online and bricks & mortar, Ailie & Laura decided the time was right to launch their long awaited events series as part of the HERO lifestyle element. Hosted at the Woodfire Restaurant just up the road from the shop in Stockbridge; with early Spring sunlight streaming through the windows, and surrounded by freshly snipped blossom branches; we spent a happy few hours learning the art of copperplate calligraphy from Becci of Betty Etiquette, sharing a delicious mezze lunch, and swinging by the store, before heading homewards .

Becci was such a sweet & encouraging teacher. It’s actually quite hard to get the right flow & to not slip into your own handwriting, but it’s also an incredibly relaxing art (even as a beginner). And such a lovely thing in our fast paced, online times, to actually sit quietly & write – I’m totally addicted now & thanks to the rather sooper gift of nibs & ink; I’ve been having so much fun practicing the beautiful swirly lettering (with a loooong way to go methinks!) If you fancy having a go, I’d definitely recommend looking into a workshop with Becci.

I was so excited to finally step into the store after watching it’s development through IG & Twitter (it really is as lovely as it looks in pictures!) If you can’t make it to Stockbridge anytime soon, you can always visit the online store or discover more on the blog…

Thanks for a beautiful morning, Ailie & Laura, and thanks to Becci & the folks at Woodfire for teaching & hosting – it was fab! x

That sounds a wonderful way to spend a day! Good luck with the calligraphy I used to love it when I was younger 🙂
