Crafting The Seasons \\ Handmade Christmas…

Abode - Creativity - Everyday

merry bright plywood wall art Warning…this post is a mega picture heavy one! Until a couple of days ago, I was having a total creative block with my styling the seasons post for December. Partly because, until this weekend, the house has been in crafting, baking & general holiday chaos, and partly, because our Christmas style is handmade & loved, and gets spread throughout the house rather than on any particular surface!…It’s a total mish-mash of makes, beloved & treasured heirlooms, childhood decorations, and allowing Boo to get her own Christmas tree style on with DBear (which I love to watch, but my total control freak side has to look the other way!)

So, I thought I’d take you on a little #craftingtheseasons tour of my favourite handmade & colourful parts of our Christmas home for starters…
Above is the final DIY make I mentioned here…all I did was to cut the plywood to size, cut letter templates, draw & paint. Soooo simple, but I love it! Below is my favourite make following our magical #craftingtheseasons event hosted by Katy & Lottie at Liberty’s ~ a Himmeli (a traditional Finnish christmas decoration) made with paper straws wrapped in beautiful Tana Lawn Liberty print, then cut & tied to form geometric shapes (the pink further down was the original make). I also made a miniature glass planter (fabrics strips glued & varnished inside the glass) for a tiny poinsettia I found, and a God’s Eye yarn decoration trimmed with the same fabric, which are to be gifts…this is all that Christmas means for me…it’s in our hands & our hearts, our making & baking, and in the folk with whom we share it…

I hope you enjoy a this little peek into our Christmas style, and you can discover our favourite holiday tradition in my #stylingtheseasons post here x

Wow! So much beauty, so much love and so much creativity. What an amazing collection of decorations. Your Liberty print Himmelis are incredible and look amazing grouped together – I must make those next year. A really gorgeous post xxx
