Christmas is Coming…

Everyday

Christmas_is_near_LapinBlu So, December has finally arrived. Winter is here, and Christmas is near…

I’m facing my first solo Christmas this year as Boo will be with her Dad, so I was struggling a little getting into the festive spirit. But a seasonally inspired day together & a certain small furry early Christmas present has certainly helped put me in the mood…first up, meet Willow…
Early Christmas Presents Yes, she is absolutely as cute and fluffy as she looks, and an absolute bundle of trouble at just three months old! She is certainly into EVERYthing!

The first order of the day was to hang our door wreath. In previous years, I’ve made our wreath, but this year, the lovely folks at Amara asked if I’d like to select one from the their four Christmas themes: Hideaway, Kitschmas, Midnight Jewel, and Winter Blush. I chose the Gold Glitter Rosehip Wreath by Gisella Graham, which I’d planned to weave miniature lights into, however, upon arrival, it already had lights within it so I was super chuffed with that! Next up, we went up to the loft to get down our decorations. I’m still undecided about whether to have an actual tree this year, as it seems a little pointless, but what’s Christmas without a tree, right? Of course, Willow had to help out…
Christmas Cat Early Christmas Presents Christmas Cat Late afternoon, we donned our Christmas jumpers, and headed to the Arundel by Candlelight celebrations. With all the heady aromas of roasted chestnuts, soups, and mulled wines, combined with carols, twinkling lights, and of course, the official lighting of the Christmas tree, this was a perfect way to while away an evening, and get us ready to cosy up by the fire with a Christmas movie when we returned home… Christmas Jumpers LapinBlu Arundel by Candlelight_Lapinblu Firelighting for winter First Winter Fire
This was our first fire of the year, and I finally got to try out my Firestarter from George & Willy

“Inspired by Alaskan whalers from the 18th century, the Fire Starter provides a revolutionary way to light your fire without kindling or newspaper.

The porous ceramic stone absorbs lamp oil in the steel vessel. Once lit, it produces a generous flame for 15-20 minutes, allowing large logs to catch fire.”

Seriously, I am impressed. You soak the stone in lamp oil for half an hour or so, roll it in ash, light it up & away you go. So easy. No mess. And it got the fire going straight off, using less kindling wood, and in half the time. I’d highly recommend this for an outdoor enthusiast’s Christmas list!
Christmas Treats Our Christmas movie over, Boo wrote her letter to Father Christmas to be left by the fire, and headed off to bed, whilst I took the opportunity for some pamper time…
Candles lit, and my all time favourite bath treats from MOA filling the room with wintry, sleep inducing scents, I soaked away the day feeling finally festive, and looking forward to a rum hot chocolate and a mincepie before bed… Christmas Hot Chocolate
Our festive mood inducing day was bliss, so here’s my top five tips to get yourself in the festive mood too:

1\\ Get those decorations down from storage. Even if you’re not ready for your tree yet (or at all), there’s bound to be a few little pieces you can put up. Book a wreath making event (there’s often local ones about), check out your local florist, or choose one like mine that will last for seasons to come, and make your front door feel that welcoming cheer.

2\\ Visit local Christmas markets, have a look if there’s anywhere you can cut your own Christmas Tree nearby, book a pantomime.

3\\ Find yourself a Christmas Jumper. If the cheesy sort is not your bag, select something with scandi vibes instead. Even just a simple cosy knit will get you in the seasonal mood (but I have my eye on this one!)…
And whilst we’re thinking seasonal wear, why not treat yourself to something special for Christmas day…If, like me, you don’t have too many events this year, try keeping it simple & budget friendly with something you can multi-task by adding layers, changing accessories, or switching up your shoes (like this). If you’re going to have a few parties, events, plus New Year’s Eve though, how about going all out IT Girl Glam with a party dress like these from Coast.

4\\ Pamper yourself with winter treats…scents can do all sorts to get you feeling festive. Light a candle (I am obsessed with Sainsbury’s Cashmere & Dark Cassis!) or treat yourself to some luxury bath & body goodies…I hear all sorts of good about the Neom Christmas Wish fragrances, and am adding a candle to my Christmas wish list.

5\\ Stock up on some festive foodie treats…an early mincepie, or a rum hot chocolate never goes amiss in my opinion! Try The Future Kept for their Pump Street drinking chocolates…my go-to rum choice is Kraken, but a shot of Bailey’s is also a good alternative for some Christmas yum.

How about you? Are you feeling festive yet? What gets you feeling the spirit of the season?
